This is a visual novel in the same style as Monster Loves You. The game involves choosing where to go each turn, then responding to the randomized event that happens there. The event and your response to it will have positive or negative effects on one or more of your character's stats, which in turn influence later events and the end of the game. It's sort of like a dating sim, except instead of trying to get the girl, you're trying to survive the apocalypse. The music and the writing are top notch, which makes the game a joy to play through several times over. Events are randomized to give the game more replay value, but they also interconnect with each other in surprising and delightful ways, so you're likely to see something new even on your tenth time through the game. Each run only takes about ten minutes, so finishing it multiple times is more fun than frustrating.Though enjoyable as a solitary experience, the game really shines when used as a party game. Grab a few friends and try to stave off The Yawhg together - or don't, and see if your character can fare better than the others after the apocalypse.. It's really tough to give this a thumps up or down. It's interesting to play through a couple of times but since it's an incredibly short game (one playthrough is about 10 minutes) and some of the random events did repeat already in the second playthrough it won't be able to keep you entertained for long. For the price rather get a game like FTL that also offers this kind of storytelling but combines it with more depth in the gameplay department.. I would recommend this game with a few caveats.First, don't pay more than a couple bucks. The content is severely limited.Second, this is not a game to play alone. The novelty will wear off very quickly. Third, this is a simple game. Expect no depth. So, with these in mind, why would I recommend this?Simply: It's a fun way to spend half an hour with a small group of friends, brought us some laughs and giggles, and was worth the couple bucks I spent. The game is essentially a "choose your adventure" in which each player is allowed to make a few decisions over the course of a session. At the end, everyone's choices create an outcome for them that's some shade of negative, neutral, or positive. Though each character's story is connected, they really only interact very loosely.Think of it as a little board game to pull off the shelf when someone brings their kids over.. Just not something that reached out and grabbed me. It reminds me of the book "turn to this page for this descision" games I used to play in elementary school.. If you are looking for any kind of serious game play, please leave now. This game is not for you and never will be. It is way too simple, direct, short and shallow when it comes to gameplay. However, if you are going to have a few friends over and have a few drinks, this game may be just the ticket for something to do casually while you hang out. That same short and direct gameplay, simplicity, amount of things that can happen to you and the others before it’s over may be the perfect combination to have a laugh or three while slugging them down. Just be aware some of the events are going to repeat… a lot. For the full review go to http://redsectorshutdown.blogspot.com/2015/11/the-yawhg-pc-review.html. The only reason I don't recommend this game is that it literally only takes ten minutes to play through it, and only a couple of replays and you'll figure out how to get a perfect ending for whatever roles you choose at the end. I played it for less than an hour total and i'm done with it for good. It's a neat concept though.. This game can be beaten in 11 minutes. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, the bad thing is that the store page here emphasizes how there is a "unqiue story every time you play" and I don't really care, because none of my choices felt like they mattered at the end. Maybe that's supposed to be some kind of artsy message, but that could of been done in a way that sitll made it a good game.
